Why Has My SMS Verification Code Not Arrived?
Published by SMS Virtual ·
A missing code can result from incorrect number entry, a rejected number range, sender delays, or an expired rental. Work through these checks before requesting another code or purchasing a second number.
Check the number and selected service
Compare the number in the external form with your activation. Check whether the form expects the full international number or a national number after its country selector. Do not enter the country code twice.
US example: for +1 numbers, check whether the form expects the full +1 number or a national number after its country selector.
The service chosen in SMS Virtual should match the sender. A number supplied for one app is not automatically available for every other app.
Read the sender’s error or resend timer
If the sender says the number is unsupported, a longer wait may not solve it. Some services exclude temporary numbers, certain carriers, or recycled numbers. Follow the sender’s published requirements rather than trying to evade its restrictions.
If a resend countdown appears, wait for it. Repeated requests can introduce delays or invalidate an older code. Do not repeatedly purchase new numbers expecting guaranteed acceptance.
Check the activation timer and connection
Open the Active page and select the relevant rental. Confirm it is still active, that your browser is connected, and that you are reading the correct activation. New SMS cannot be relied upon after expiry.
Cancellation and wallet credit
For an active rental with no received SMS, “Cancel & refund” unlocks two minutes after activation. It remains unavailable after a message is received, even if the external service rejects the code. The supplier must accept cancellation before the app credits the rental cost back.
A successful cancellation refunds activation credits to your SMS Virtual wallet; it is not a card refund. If cancellation is refused, read the displayed reason and contact support rather than assuming a refund has completed.
Information to provide to support
Include the activation reference, service, country, approximate time, and the error shown. Do not include a real verification code, password, or complete payment-card details. Explain whether a message never arrived or arrived but was rejected: these are different cases.
